Your pet is not a bad dog. Your pet's behavior is the result of separation anxiety.
Can this be cured? Why yes, and with a product that has a reassuring name, too - Reconcile.
Well that's a relief.
What is Reconcile?
a once-daily, chewable, flavored tablet for the treatment of separation anxiety in conjunction with a behavior modification plan.
No really, what actually is Reconcile?
Fluoxetine hydrochloride
You may already know that by its brand name. Prozac.

Reconcile warns of side effects such as aggression, excessive vocalisation, diarrhoea and tremors. These are also side effects warned of on the Prozac leaflet.
Prozac additionally warns of suicidal thoughts, anxiety and other symptoms that we can only know about because the humans who take it told us. Dogs can't self-report psychological effects, and it's a fair guess that dogs on Reconcile are having them but have no way to tell us.
When you see dogs in hot cars winding the windows up, you'll know the reason why....
My cat has hallucinations, memory problems and problems concentrating. Think these may be side effects of being a cat.
merrick,
I have a 2 year old Yorkie, in the last 23days I have spent $1,000 LITERALLY on things he has damaged. I cannot crate him because he does actually try to kill himself. I have put off and put off this medication. I leave from 7:00-12:00 and 1:00 - 5:00 monday through friday. I have cancelled any and all "extra" activities in my life ( I am 23) because I can't leave my dog at home alone. We moved on 3/8/10. He shredded the carpet by the front door, after about a week and a 1/2 I paid to have tile put down. He has eaten 3 sets of blinds (the apt requires i have them. I went home yesterday to find he has shredded the carpet around the tile. I had to crate him I cannot offord to keep doing this. Yesterday morning from 7:00-12:00 I sat and wondered what he has destroyed so far. yesterday from 1-3 (had to leave at three couldn't stand it) I wondered if my dog had killed himself in his crate. All of this took place WHILE ON ALL NATURAL CALMING MEDICATION,as well as the pheromone plug ins. I love my dog and could never give him up. He is as calm and undestructive as can be when I am home. So do I shoot him? Give him to someone who will probably shoot him? Put him to sleep? or medicate him? Yeah, I thought so.
